Doctor’s Orders for Engagement Season

On this Wedding Wednesday, I look around at friends dropping like flies. It’s flu season…. In all seriousness, engagement season is in full swing across America. With so many beautiful rings out there waiting for a hand to wear them, what is a boy to do?

A little history

During World War II, DeBeers had a marketing campaign to revitalize the diamond industry. They coined the phrase “a diamond is forever” and suggested men spend two months salary on an engagement ring. While some men inherit rings and some men have been known to spend much more than this rule of thumb, what matters is that the ring is perfect for the woman wearing it!

The Ring

Some of us gave or have given subtle hints to our men while others leave it up to them entirely. Let’s take a look at a what’s out there.

DeBeers, 9 carat, D Color, Internally Flawless and price set at 1.83 Million. Yep. That is one big rock!

What do you think about this ring from Todd Reed, based in Boulder, CO? Totally different and non-traditional. Hammered gold and raw diamonds. It’s a raw kind of elegance.

For those of you that know, here is my Love.

Dr’s Orders: A little something sparkly. It’s the best way to keep the flu away!
